Another new feature we are really excited about delivering to you – Custom Fields! When creating a Quote for a customer, or when a customer is creating a Quote for themselves, there is often more information that needs to be collected. We’ve offered some workarounds in the past, but to properly address this issue we’ve developed a new feature called Custom Fields. These allow ultimate flexibility in collecting additional information that doesn’t modify the price of the Quote.

Custom Fields are attached to either the Quote Template, or an Item. Here’s a quick example of Custom Fields in action:

You can manage Custom Fields in a couple of ways. First, the Quotes > Custom Fields area will allow you to create, edit and delete Custom Fields. If you’re already working with a Quote Template or Item, you can manage the associated Custom Fields in the Settings tab, near the bottom of the page. The options are pretty simple, as seen here:

If you choose the date type, a date picker will appear when the input is clicked, and the date will be formatted as per your Date Format setting in Settings > General:

If you choose the dropdown type, you will be asked to provide the list of options, one per line:

Once the Quote is created, the Quote Template Custom Fields are shown below the pricing table, and the Item Custom Fields are shown just below the Item Options:

We hope you enjoy the added flexibility this new feature brings. Thanks for all the support over the last 5(!) years, and happy quoting!
